Anniversary Trip to the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA

The Omni Homestead Resort is tucked amongst the mountains in western Virginia, specifically in the small community of Hot Springs in Bath County, VA. Initially established in 1766, this historical resort has hosted numerous US Presidents, experienced challenges such as the fire of 1901, and gone through many changes in ownership during its lifetime. Currently, the resort invites guests to stay in its classic guest rooms, enjoy fine dining, and experience the plethora of activities ranging from sport shooting to horseback riding to skiing.

The Grand Ballroom at the Omni Homestead Resort.

The Star City Wanderers stayed at the Omni Homestead Resort for two nights in a King Room in November of 2021. While at the resort, we had dinner in the grand ballroom the first night, enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and had dinner at Jefferson’s Restaurant the second night. We also participated in some of the on-property recreational activities including Horseback Riding and Archery. We also took in a treatment at the Spa, and enjoyed the peaceful country setting.

The room was clean and reasonably spacious, however keep in mind that this is an historical building, and therefore the bathrooms are fairly small. However, one does not really stay at The Omni Homestead Resort to spend all weekend in the room.

The Serenity Garden at the Spa at the Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA.

The property is vast and hosts so many activities, including:

  • Equestrian Activities:

    • Horseback Riding

    • Carriage Rides

  • Shooting Sports:

    • Archery

    • Skeet Shooting

  • Golf

  • Tennis

  • Fly Fishing

  • Hiking/Biking

  • Falconry

  • Kayaking

  • Lawn Games

  • Mini Cascades Miniature Golf

For the Star City Wanderers, the highlight of the property is the truly world class spa which includes the Serenity Garden featuring the geothermal Octagon Pool which is fed by two (2) hot springs.  The Serenity Garden also includes a pool, traditional hot tub, and the River Reflexology Walk. This was just a lovely and relaxing experience. I wish we had more time in the Serenity Garden.

The other highlight of our stay at the Omni Homestead Resort was the Breakfast Buffet (which was included with the package we booked). It was a large spread of classic breakfast dishes, southern favorites, and a few unusual additions such as roasted brussel sprouts for breakfast.

Rates: Starting at $353 per night
